Maybe translator associations have been superseded Oct 2, 2005

In the 1980s I was heavily involved in ATA. At that time the community was very emotional and negative, and everyone had to be "right." Times have changed. Maybe ATA has, too. I'm open to that idea.

Nowadays I get 1,000 times more support from ProZ than I ever did from ATA.

For interpreters, on the other hand, their association is key to regulating a very challenging profession, and I definitely think they should be involved.
