Discussion

Jessica Guzman Morales Jul 6, 2018:
Putting the picture next to another picture etc. would be covered by "montage". Your point is important though. I completely agree with B D Finch in the sense that you should not reduce all the list of modifications to "edited" for the same reasons.
Daryo Jul 5, 2018:
I would also see "rapprochement" as putting the picture next to another picture / pictures, or next to / embedded in some specific text, in order to create some kind of contrast/association in the reader's / viewer's mind.

The kind of possible trickery / deliberately misleading editing of the whole context in which the picture is presented is endless, so it does sound like a dangerous clause.

So "rapprochement" wouldn't be about the picture itself, but about the way it's used in some specific context.
B D Finch Jul 5, 2018:
@philgoddard I'd agree with your "juxtapositions", but not with reducing this to "edited". The specific treatments listed could each give rise to dispute if not specifically agreed. There are real risks, particularly in juxtapositions of photos with other material. (A parent signing such an agreement, might well want some clear exclusions for the protection of themself and their family.)
Alison Wedley (asker) Jul 5, 2018:
Yes, I agree, I think that could be a better way of putting it altogether.
philgoddard Jul 5, 2018:
Could it be juxtapositions? If so, "fassent l’objet de coupes, de montages et rapprochements" could be translated simply as "edited".

zooming

Sounds like photograph editing. Rapprocher is to bring closer. So in this context it could be to zoom in on the babies digitally.
Example sentence:

Zooming refers to increase the quantity of pixels, so that when you zoom an image, you will see more detail.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Daryo : that's only ONE possible meaning, BUT that would be covered by "croping" BTW there is no fixed "size" (on paper or on screen) when you publish a picture, so "zooming" would be the unavoidable result of "cropping" if you fill the same space.
