MEETING REPORT
Introduction
The 1 ½-day Brainstorming Session, funded under the UNESCO-Hainan Provincial People’s
Government Fund for ASPnet, brought together representatives of ASPnet Teacher Training
Institutions and ASPnet coordination structures (see list of participants in annex).
The objectives of the brainstorming session were to:
1. Discuss how teachers, within the framework of ASPnet, can be supported most
effectively to foster GCED’s three learning dimensions and associated transformative
pedagogies.
2. Brainstorm on the objectives and format of a global meeting of ASPnet Teacher Training
Institutions to be organised by UNESCO in January 2020.
3. Discuss and provide recommendations for
A mapping of relevant materials/resources for teachers to foster GCED’s three
learning dimensions and associated transformative pedagogies, and
The provision of ASPnet teacher training on GCED in Africa.
Meeting Results
Issues, challenges and opportunities
Participants brainstormed on how teachers can be supported most effectively to foster GCED’s
three learning dimensions and associated transformative pedagogies and identified the
following issues and challenges:
Overcrowded curriculum (lack of time to focus on GCED); rigid/fragmented curriculum
(lack of room for maneuver to integrate GCED in subjects);
Lack of meaningful GCED training for teachers and principals but also for teacher trainers;
Issue of terminology:
o GCED perceived as something new that has to be added (vs something that is
already taught through the themes that make up GCED, e.g. human rights, peace
education, civic education, moral education or other local concepts/subjects);
o GCED perceived differently in every region, sometimes negatively (“Western”
concept, “neocolonial”, associated to globalization, politically sensitive)

Introdução
A Sessão de Brainstorming de um dia e meio, financiada pelo Fundo Governamental da Província de Hainan para ASPnet-UNESCO, juntou representantes das Instituições de Formação de Professores e da coordenação do ASPnet (em anexo encontra-se a lista de participantes).
Os objetivos da sessão de brainstorming foram:
1. Discutir como os professores, no panorama da ASPnet, podem ser auxiliados da melhor maneira para impulsionar as três dimensões do aprendizado na GCED e pedagogias transformativas relacionadas
2. Brainstorm sobre os objeivos e o formato do encontro global das Instituições de Formação de Professores da ASPnet, que será organizado pela UNESCO em janeiro de 2020
3. Discutir e providenciar recomendações para
⦁ Um mapeamento de recursos e materiais relevantes aos professores para a fomentação das três dimensões do aprendizado na GCED e pedagogias transformativas relacionadas, e
⦁ O provimento da Formação de Professores da ASPnet na GCED na África.
Resultados do Encontro
Problemática, desafios e oportunidades
Os participantes discutiram sobre como os professores podem ser auxiliados da melhor maneira para impulsionar as três dimensões do aprendizado na GCED e pedagogias transformativas relacionadas e identificaram os seguintes desafios:
⦁ Currículo superlotado (carência de tempo para focar na GCED); currículo “engessado” (pouca abertura para a inclusão da GCED nas matérias);
⦁ Falta de treinamento na GCED adequado, tanto para professores e diretores, como para os instrutores dos professores;
⦁ Questão da terminologia:
- GCED ser interpretada como algo novo que deve ser adicionado (vs algo que já é ensinado por meio dos temas que compõem a GCED, como direitos humanos, educação para a paz, educação cívica, educação moral ou outros conceitos locais);
- GCED ser interpretada de maneira diferente em cada região, por vezes negativamente (conceito “ocidental”, “neocolonialismo”, associado à globalização, sensível politicamente)
