Military style, pirate style? Sep 23, 2010

As a foreigner of the English language, I observe that military talking style is also weird, in particular during wartime. In war movies, it is not easy to catch all words correctly. It it because of the battle ground environment, in compare with long journey, salty and alcoholic lives of pirates?
