Source text - English As we travel along the eastern coastline of southern Africa, the landscape changes. This coast is warmer than the dry and cold West Coast of southern Africa. Kelp forests can no longer survive here as the water temperature is far too warm for these giant algae to flourish. This is the kingdom of the Agulhas current: a warm, narrow and intense body of water that moves ever southwards. The current originates from the tropic and sub-tropic regions of the Indian Ocean and as such, it is low in nutrients. The mostly narrow edge of the continental shelf off East Africa allows this warm current to flow close to the coast. Unlike the cold Benguela current of South Africa’s western coast line, these warm waters release massive amounts of moisture into the air.

Hutan alga tidak lagi dapat hidup di dalamnya kerana suhu pantai yang panas tidak sesuai untuk hutan alga hidup subur. Ini ialah arus Agulhas: airnya panas, dengan arus sempit dan deras, sentiasa bergerak menuju selatan. Arus ini berasal dari kawasan tropika dan subtropika Lautan India dan disebabkan suhu air yang panas, kandungan nutrisinya rendah. Source text - English Walking through the Taipei train station, I took the time to reflect upon all the experiences I’d had so far. It’s funny how when you are on a busy itinerary you can sometimes forget the stuff that’s happened just a few days earlier and it’s when you’re a little tired and the pace slows down, that the memories pop back in your head. I’d managed to squeeze a lot into just a few days, but what I had ahead of me was going to be way more exciting. Well, not the train trip because that’s nap time. But the festivals, landmarks and activities that were organised for the coming week.
My only worry was that I was going to run out of steam before the end. So I planned to take full advantage of the journey ahead and put my feet up for some shuteye. Maybe I should have taken the slow train.
Translation - Malay Sambil berjalan di sepanjang stesen kereta api Taipei, saya imbau kembali pengalaman pengembaraan saya setakat ini. Lucu memikirkan apabila sibuk mengejar jadual perjalanan yang padat, kadangkala kita terlupa perkara yang baru sahaja berlaku beberapa hari lepas. Ketika penat dan lapang beginilah, memori itu muncul semula. Saya dapat melakukan banyak aktiviti dalam hanya beberapa hari, tetapi apa yang menanti saya nanti adalah lebih mengujakan. Bukan perjalanan kereta api ini, ini waktu untuk saya tidur. Tetapi festival, mercu tanda dan aktiviti yang telah disusun untuk minggu mendatang. Kebimbangan saya hanyalah ketiadaan tenaga untuk menghabiskan semuanya. Jadi, saya mengambil peluang memenuhi masa perjalanan ini mengecas tenaga dengan berehat dan tidur. Proses yang wujud untuk mengasingkan CO2 mengalami kelemahan dari segi had kuantiti maksimum CO2 yang dibenarkan dalam gas asli, memandangkan keaslian tinggi diperlukan oleh industri. Cecair berion berpolimer menunjukkan kapasiti penjerapan CO2 yang tinggi dan cepat berbanding dengan cecair berion di suhu bilik. Objektif utama penyelidikan ini ialah untuk menentukan rekacipta yang optimum bagi cecair berion berpolimer mengasingkan CO2 dari gas semulajadi.
Translation - English High quantity of carbon dioxide (CO2) content discovered in the natural gas in Malaysia and reservoirs around the world has been the main issue faces by the industry nowadays. The existing process for CO2 removal has the disadvantage in terms of maximum quantity limit of CO2 allowed in the natural gas, giving that high degree of purity required by the industry. Polymerized ionic liquid showed enhanced capacity of CO2 sorption and at a faster rate compared to room temperature ionic liquid. The main objective of this study is to design an optimum polymerized ionic liquid for CO2 separation from natural gas.

Source text - Malay Idea utama dalam kajian ini adalah untuk mensintesis suatu siri sebatian terbitan ketena asetal yang terdiri daripada ketena- (S,S)-asetal, ketena-(S,N)-asetal dan ketena- (N,N)-asetal melalui kaedah sintesis yang telah dilaporkan sebelum ini. Namun, skop kajian adalah tertumpu kepada penambahbaikan kaedah sedia ada bagi tujuan menghasilkan sebatian yang lebih tinggi peratusan hasilnya. Teknik sintesis melibatkan pengetahuan organik secara teori dan aplikasinya di dalam makmal. Sebatian akhir yang dikehendaki haruslah dilakar terlebih dahulu tapak jalan sintesisnya menggunakan tindak balas yang sesuai serta mengambil kira bahan kimia yang sedia ada di dalam makmal. Proses penulenan sebatian dari hasil kasar juga diperhalusi bagi mendapatkan hasil akhir dengan ketulenan yang tinggi. Teknik penghabluran semula dan kromatografi turus merupakan kaedah pemisahan yang digunakan dalam kajian ini.
Translation - English The main idea of this research is to synthesis a series of derivative compounds of ketene acetal which consist of ketene-(S,S)-acetal, ketene-(S,N)-acetal and ketene- (N,N)-acetal using previously reported synthesis method. However, the scope of this research will be focusing in improving the existing method in order to produce compound with higher percentage yield. The synthesis technique involves theoretical knowledge of organic synthesis as well as its application in the lab. The synthesis route of the desired end product must be sketched beforehand using suitable reaction and taking into account the existing chemicals in the lab. Purification process of the compounds from the raw products will be conducted delicately in order to obtain the desired compounds with high degree of purity. Recrystallization technique and column chromatography are the separation methods used in this study.
