Source text - English GM2069 – Heat & Cold Wine Stability Procedure
REVISION 1
1.0 Purpose:
1.1 Heat stability testing – To test for the presence of unstable proteins in wine. Unstable wine proteins can lead to the development of a haze or deposit. The haze is associated with the denaturation and precipitation of wine proteins, which occurs more rapidly at higher temperatures.
1.2 Cold Stability testing – To test the precipitation of potassium bitartrate as a crystalline deposit when the wine is chilled.
2.0 Principle
2.1 Heat stability testing – Wine is heated at 80ºC for 6 hours and cooled down to ambient temperature. The heated wine is compared to a non-heated control for the visible presence of haze and precipitate and nephelometeric turbidity units (NTU) as measured using a turbidity meter.
2.2 Cold Stability testing – Wine is cooled to -30ºC for 2 hours and warmed to ambient temperature. The chilled wine is compared to a non-heated control for the visible presence of haze and crystals and NTU turbidity as measured using a turbidity meter.
3.0 Scope and Application
The method is applicable to all cellar (Modesto, Livingston, Fresno, Martini and Sonoma) and winemaker samples.
4.0 Safety Notes
4.1 Wear safety glasses at all times.
4.2 Wear protective gloves and use tongs when inserting or removing samples from the water bath.

4.4 Samples for cold testing should be filtered only into the 30 mL tubes to avoid issues with glass breakage.

English to Italian: Laser technology
Source text - English Operation Mode
The operation mode group is of the Radio Button type, which allows the selection of one of the four available options. The four options are:
1) CW
This places the laser in Continuous mode of operation. The letters CW stand for Continuous Wave. In this mode the output of the laser is not pulsed or modulated. Note that this selection can be overridden by inputs from the external interface.
2) Pulsed
This places the laser in Pulsed mode of operation. The Pulse On Time and Period are as shown on the main display screen. Note that the selection can be overridden by inputs from the external interface.
3) Single Shot
In single shot operation the laser is normally off, but will emit a single pulse when the laser shutter is opened. This is used for example for aligning the CO2 beam to the HeNe visible laser beam. The duration of the pulse is the Pulse On time value displayed on the main screen.
4) Calibrate
The laser will be set to CW mode, and then the HV discharge current will be increased in steps from minimum to maximum. The control programme will record the laser power at each HV current level. This information is used to set the laser power when the laser is operated in Open Loop control mode. An accurate calibration will also improve the speed with which the laser will settle at the correct power after a step change in the power demand, when the laser is operated in the Closed Loop control mode.

La durata dell’impulso è uguale al valore di “Pulse On Time” che si trova nella schermata principale.
4) Calibratura
Si operi il laser nella modalità CW e si aumenti la corrente di scarica di HV (High Voltage o alta tensione) da un valore minimo ad uno massimo. Il programma di controllo registrerà il valore della potenza laser a ciascun livello di corrente di HV; questo dato è usato per definire la potenza quando il laser viene operato ad anello aperto. Quando il laser viene operato ad anello chiuso, una calibrazione accurata migliorerà la velocità con cui questi raggiunge la potenza desiderata dopo un cambiamento a gradino della richiesta di potenza.
