To answer the question I forgot to answer the question. Sometimes Best Practices is capitalized. It's a list of practices approved by an expert body to ensure safety or better performance. It was first used in relation to laboratory and manufacturing procedures, but it has been extended to more abstract areas of development. I recently translated a 100-page document on best practices (also now sometimes called "best buys") for **getting people to stop harmful habits** that contribute to noncommunicable diseases, such as tobacco use, insufficient exercise, and poor diet.
It's a stretch to use 'experiences' as synonym for best practices. **Countries may trade experiences in how best to apply best practices, but best practices are always a formally approved list of things to do**.

Best practices In United Nations documents, it's invariably translated as "buenas prácticas" or "mejores prácticas." As I mentioned earlier, these organizations don't use tricky terms because they don't want to confuse people. Their audience casts *votes on expenditures* and they try to be clear and simple.
An example: "Cono Sur" used to be translated as 'Southern Tier', but that translation was abandoned in favor of 'Southern Cone' because it was more straightforward and less confusing.
