neutral MPGS : 'vicisitudes' (DRAE) is 'altibajos' -'ups and downs'- while 'misfortunes' is only negative. Rgds :) I acknowwledge your reference to 'this context' :)

Surprised at a disagree and not a neutral, in this context it works well while "ups and downs" has the wrong register and it is, as I say, only another possibility - regards
