Law: Taxation & Customs
Consolidated Financial St
Kontext:
I know what it means in German, but I've not come across the EN term before and everything I find involves "care" or "supervision", but that's just not really it. I understand it that employees "look after" customers at an event. But what's the single-word term I can use here for "Betreuung" that works in a tax law context?? Many thanks for your suggestions!

The definition of 'eigenbetriebliches Interesse' seems crucial in this context: https://www.haufe.de/finance/steuern-finanzen/zuwendungen-ar...
'Eigenbetriebliches Interesse' comes with the label of 'unbestimmter Rechtsbegriff'. Betreuungsfunktion sounds equally undefined and is a term that could cover a lot of things in a lot of different contexts. If we don't even have a German term that narrowly fits only this context, we're not likely to find one in English either. In fact, it may even be inappropriate to translate this more narrowly than the German.

Comment: "In the end I am going for "customer relationship role", I think that brings it across in the best way. Thanks for your help!"

support function
I'd like to give this a confidence level between medium and high. I see the term as referring to "back office" like functions that support the business but do not contribute directly to revenue generation. Seen from a cost perspective, think of the difference between direct costs and overheads.

I said "back office like", not that these were back office. I used an analogy to indicate these are support functions.

Note from asker:
the context is company events and employees attending them to look after customers. it has nothing to do with back office whatsoever. |

Reference:
Betreuungsfunktion
When reading the full paragraph it seems clear that the reference is to advisory and/or consulting services, e.g., by an associate doing double duty as regular, salaried employee, but part of the time also filling a role as organizer/advisor/consultant for the company, meriting different tax treatment. So it would be "Advisory/consultancy services (better than 'function) of associates"
