: just because durchwirken = interweave, you can't assume "technically interwoven image" makes sense in English (which it doesn't to me) // naja - die hätten das durchaus besser ausdrücken können, wa ?(yup - my first thought was: "what the f**k?")

Your suggestion seems also good. Gegenfrage: Does the German really make sense to you? // ADD: Irrtum, mein Lieber - die wollten das wahrscheinlich ganz bewusst nicht besser (= klarer) ausdrücken ;-)

From your description, this sounds a lot more like "superimposed" (vertically) than "interwoven"
But I'm not sure without more detailed context (convenient excuse ;-)
