English term

to interrupt someone’s train of thought

English to Turkish Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Colloquial Narrative
Greetings,

My sentence for translation: “The so-and-so interrupted my train of thought with his clowning!”

This may be helpful:
http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/a train of thought
a train of thought = a series of connected thoughts:
You interrupted my train of thought - Now I can't remember what I was going to say.

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

We use this phrase, fits 100%.

While two people have a chat, when one of them says or does something and makes the other person forget what he/she was going to say, the person says "ne diyeceğimi unutturdun". Which means "you did something and you made me forgot what I was going to say".

düşünce akışını (silsilesini) bozmak

Since the literal meaning is this, and "remembering/forgetting" is mentioned in the next sentence, this translation would be suitable, IMO.

Sözünü kesmek

Imho (it remind of the verb "cut in"!

(düşüncelere dalmış birinin) dikkatini dağıtmak

Türkçede sanırım bu şekilde daha güzel ifade edilmiş olur. Yanılıyor muyum?

düşüncelerimi rayından çıkardı

"Filanca, şaklabanlığıyla düşüncelerimi rayından çıkardı" Türkçede de zaman zaman kullandığımız güncel bir ifade şeklidir. "train" metaforuna yakınlığı ve aynı şeyi ifade etmesi açısından önerebilirim.
