English term
enter the highway
English to German
Tech/Engineering
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
It is one of the message from the GPS system. The expression should be as short as possible and used usually in such context. Nehmen Sie? Fahren Sie auf?? Oder?? THANKS

In a GPS, where messages have of necessity to be as short as possible, why not this?
After all, what else would you be doing if reading GPS instructions, but "fahren-ing(!)" in a car?
Looks very like an AE writer; "highway" is not an expression used here (except perhaps by US ex-pats), so the road designation - A392, B104 etc. - would tell the GNS what sort of road it is - motorway or just a main trunk road (which of course could also be a dual carriageway [Schnellstrasse - although not all of these are dualled]).

: Good idea! (I think that is what they actually do say, though I'm not completely sure.)

: exactly; having used one last year in Germany you had to be sure of the exact "Strassenbezeichnung"
