In der Mitgliederzeitschrift der Royal Horticulrual Society (RHS) "The Garden", August 2020, S. 88 heißt es in einem Leserbrief:
"I am surprised when visiting gardens with a pond that I have not seen arum or water lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) used as a marginal plant. In my small pond, positioned with at least 25cm of ***water above the crown***, it proved to be a magnificent specimen ..."
Was ist mit dem eingesternten Ausdruck gemeint. Die Wassertiefe des Teichs?

: Die Wasserlilie erfüllt alle Erwartungen an ihre Blütenfülle, wenn die Knollen in sumpfige, humose und leicht saure Erde gesetzt werden. Die ideale Wassertiefe schwankt dabei zwischen 10 und 20 cm

Für den Rückschnitt nimmt man die Seerose aus dem Teich und entfernt den hinteren alten Teil des Rhizoms. Es sollte ein kräftiger Trieb erhalten bleiben.

The crown of the water lily plant is the cluster of shoots where the stems and leaves grow from the rhizome/tuber/roots, it can usually be found at the soil level.

The rhizome should be planted at one edge of the container with the rhizome planted at an angle of about 45 degrees with the crown exposed.

Die "arum lily" pflanzt man jedenfalls nicht unter Wasser, sondern im feuchten Randboden. Und hier wieder die Kontextlogik: Der Leserbriefschreiber ist erstaunt und sagt, dass **(nur) er** diese Pflanze unterhalb der Wasseroberfläche setzt. Offensichtlich wurde in dem Text, auf den er sich bezieht, gesagt, dass man sie in den Randboden setzt. Wahrscheinlich hat er in seinem Teich eine andere Pflanze, als er zu haben glaubt.
Es gibt acht Zantedeschia-Arten:[5]
Gewöhnliche Calla oder Zimmercalla (Zantedeschia aethiopica (L.) Spreng., Syn.: Calla aethiopica L.): Sie kommt ursprünglich im südlichen Afrika vor.[6]
