Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / Term Deposit Account
Spanish term or phrase: Reintegro total
Term Deposit Account (Spain)

This appears as the last item in a list of transactions relating to a Term Deposit account.

Although "reintegro" can be translated as "refund", I don't think this would necessary correct in the context. I wondered if "full repayment" or "full withdrawal" would be more appropriate here as all of the funds have been withdrawn and transferred to another account. It appears that the account reached its maturity date a few days before the funds were withdrawn.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

reintegro total
full reinstatement

Explanation:
Reinstatement in the first web ref, works also for funds, including ones clawed back into the same 'replenished' account.

Restitution connotes to me payback of moneys / monies wrongfully received or ones received in error. Cut to the English tort of unjust enrichment that used to encompass remedies in quasi-contract and that many readers - who have studied contract, the tort of (formerly) detinue or conversion & Equity and concerned themselves with the 'intersection' between - will be familiar with.

Example sentence(s):
  • Full reinstatement means any Defaulted Mortgage Loan for which the Mortgagor brings the Mortgage Loan back to a contractually current status either through a lump sum payment or otherwise consistent with the terms of the related Servicing Agreement.

neutral  philgoddard: There is no 'reinstatement' - the account is being closed. Your reference to defaulted mortgages is irrelevant.

-> well, reinstatement ot restoration is more conclusive than your scattergun answer and mortage default is just one scenario https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/insurance-proceeds-rei... // still lies within the parameters of the word.

disagree  AllegroTrans: totally agree with PG; asker says the funds were transferred to another account; I completely fail to see what wrongfully received funds or mortgage defaults have to do with the asker's text

-> The funds had been reintated or restored to another a/c. The answer works better and is more conclusive than Phil G's scattergun answer https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/insurance-proceeds-rei...

disagree  patinba: Your answer is totally unrelated to the context provided.

-> read the question again *carefully* https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/insurance-proceeds-rei... I know from banking law & practice that proceeds or funds can be restored or reinstated or restored to another a/c.

disagree  Jennifer Levey: Your 3 'plain-English' suggestions are not synonyms, so at the very least you should rank them in order of likelihood in Asker's context.//'They are synonyms'. - Not so. See (i.a.): https://www.italki.com/post/question-265717

-> They are synonyms. The money has been taken out of the account, and it's been closed. There's no "order of likelihood". And I just can't see "restitution" written on a bank statement.

agree  Ella Rich: full payment (at maturity)

disagree  Adrian MM.: a totally confusing and inconclusive, scattergun answer. // only repaid lies within acceptable parameters of the word 'reintegro'. The other two 'translations' flanking repaid are, in your own words, irrelevant.

Perhaps a better alternative would be 'redemption in full', as per this link from Banco de España:
https://clientebancario.bde.es/pcb/en/menu-horizontal/produc...

"The death of a deposit holder does not in any manner whatsoever imply the early maturity of the deposit and its subsequent redemption, unless the deposit agreement expressly envisaged early redemption of the deposit in the event of the death of the deposit holder.

In the case of a term deposit with various deposit holders on an “any-to-sign” basis, if one of the joint holders dies the term deposit may be early redeemed by any of the other joint holders, provided there are no restrictions on redemption of the deposit in the deposit agreement and no express conditions for the case of death of the deposit holder."

BTW, and for FWIW, 'reintegro' is called 'rescate' in Chile.
