ER-positive breast cancers have already been enriched for high CCND1 and low CDKN2A mRNA expression with normal RB1 mRNA expression, as shown by the red triangles. This may explain why clinically CCND1 amplification and/or CDKN2A loss may not provide further enrichment in the already selected ER-positive and HER2-negative breast cancer population (note: the analysis described here is in whole or part based upon data generated by The Cancer Genome Atlas pilot project established by the National Cancer Institute and National Human Genome Research Institute.
