Hello everyone,
I have been tempted to translate "larguero" as "siderail", but refrained from doing it, as this component is everything but a "rail" in this context.
The thing is, I find "puntal", which I have to translate as "beam".
Knowing that "larguero" is a longitudinal beam, would it be an acceptable option to translate "puntal" just as "beam", and "larguero" as "longitudinal crossbar/beam".
How would you decide to translate it if you were I?
Thanks

spar
In aeronautics, we use "spar" for "larguero".

side beam, side member
Larguero in a mechanical context is often side beam or side member. The main thing is to make it clear which part of the unit you're talking about, and which direction it runs in!

La colocación de travesaños de apoyo no aumenta la capacidad de carga de los largueros: The presence (placement) of supporting cross-pieces does not increase the load-bearing capacity of the main lengthways beams"
This is a slighly free translation, but it in no way changes what it says, and, I hope, makes it as clear as possible (I've included Lisa's "main" because I think it emphasises the difference between the parts).
