German term
mittelfristig einstellen
German to English

assessment on a building
Hello, all!
I'm confused here. I have a sentence, which I believe can be interpreted two ways. Can any of you please help with what I seem to be missing? It sounds easy enough:
Kosten hierfür wurden mittelfristig eingestellt.
The text describes repairs that need to be done short term / long term / medium term. The building is undergoing an expert assessment for the purpose of selling it.
Is the sentence:
1) costs have been put on hold for a while
2) the expense will need to be made medium term
Thanks!

einstellen is Swiss/Austrian, means "to budget" here
i.e., the costs for this were budgeted for the medium term
I know that's pretty awful English, but you'll get the idea and can polish it ;-)

Note from asker:
yes, you seem to be right. There is another sentence later on that says "kosten hierfuer wurden eingestellt" It's a project in Berlin, though... |

iow: I believe your second answer to be closer to the mark.
or: were set for the middle term

due to high estimated costs, the recommended priority of repairs is/has been ranked medium
Here's what I used for Sanierungsbedarf kurz/mittel/langfristig: Damages are ordered/ranked by priority of repairs: short-, medium, long-term. Presumably, here the appraisers rank the need for repairs according to the funds the customer has available now and will have in 1 year (medium)
