Sofi_S (asker) May 17, 2016:
Thanks, I was thinking writing just the battle of Kursk, but I think they want to emphasize the city or Orel, too.
sorry for the typo: Orel, not Orlov lol

The Battle of Kursk

"The Battle of Kursk" is the usual name in English, perhaps "Kursk-Orel" is the full name, but I haven't seen it used.
Example sentence:

He took part in the Battle of Kursk

the Battle of Kursk and Orel

In English, usually just "the Battle of Kursk". Variations I've seen include "of Kursk and Orel" and "of Orel (Kursk)." And, of course, "Orel" can be spelled "Oryol."

The "bulge" is usually called "the Kursk Salient" or the "Orel-Kursk Salient," but you don't have to mention that since it doesn't seem to be in your original.
