Edwin den Boer Sep 3, 2015: No error No, there's no error in the source text. Long and short are commonly used as prepositions in financial texts.
Akke Wagenaar Sep 3, 2015: error in phrase? Shouldn't it either be 'has historically been along the FTSE 100' OR 'has historically been long FTSE 100'? Maybe ask client what is meant and whether there is an error. Or, if 'long FTSE 100' is not an existing option, the first option should be true.
