Hello, this is my first post here on proz, I'm still trying to figure my way in this platform.

I went around some game foruns offering free translation services to start building my portfolio, and one small company reached me offering a percentege of the revenue of each copy sold of the translated version instead of a unpaid collaboration. Hello, this is my first post here on proz, I'm still trying to figure my way in this platform.

I went around some game foruns offering free translation services to start building my portfolio, and one small company reached me offering a percentege of the revenue of each copy sold of the translated version instead of a unpaid collaboration. However, instead of offering me a number for the %, they let ME give the first offer.

How much should I offer? Having in mind this is my first project. Fyi each game is sold at around 8,50 dollars.

I've done gaming translation through an LSP, not directly with the game developer, so it's the first time I read/know that royalty share payment is applied by gaming companies; but I know this method is used by small publishing companies (and by some self-publishing platforms like BabelCube).

In publishing, the usual royalty share percentage for the translator goes around 70-75% of the selling price, although I'm not sure if this is before or after taxes.
While it seems high, it's not, because the translator only gets royalty shares from the translated book/e-book while the publisher/authors get royalties from the original and a 30-25% from every single language version.
