How to Start a Video Call

Start a face-to-face video interpretation call on Remoto: prerequisites, opening On-Demand, selecting an available interpreter, and joining the session.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure Stream Video is connected (check connection status on dashboard)
  • Verify you have a payment method set up (Stripe)
  • Have your language pair ready (source and target languages)

Open On-Demand

  • Click 'On-Demand' from your dashboard
  • The On-Demand Modal opens
  • Select your source and target languages
  • Or enable sign language mode for ASL/BSL interpretation

Find and Select Interpreter

  • Click 'Search' to find available interpreters
  • Browse results filtered by your language pair
  • View interpreter profiles, ratings, and availability
  • Click 'Call Now' on your chosen interpreter

Call Initiation

  • System creates Stream Video call room
  • Interpreter receives incoming call notification
  • Wait for interpreter to accept (they have time to respond)
  • Once accepted, Stream Video call interface opens

During the Video Call

  • Stream Video provides HD video and audio
  • Use controls: mute/unmute, camera on/off, screen share
  • Chat panel available for text communication
  • View all participants in the call
  • Monitor call duration and quality

End the Call

  • Click 'End Call' when finished
  • Stream Video disconnects all participants
  • Call session is logged for billing
  • View call details in Call History
