Just looked up "Lease-Purchase". It seems to be American. In England and Wales, people purchase a lease on a property and are then considered its owners, even if in a less secure position than if they had purchased the freehold. A lease on residential property might be as long as 999 years and the ground rent can be anything from really exhorbitant to a peppercorn. So, it depends what country your translation is for. It is a pity that KudoZ doesn't provide a box for Askers to give that information, particularly on legal questions.

A Lease-Purchase Contract, also known as a Lease Purchase Agreement, is the heart of rent-to-own properties. It combines elements of a traditional rental agreement with an exclusive right of first refusal option for later purchase on the home. It is a shortened name for Lease with Option to Purchase Contract.
But that is not to say I will not accept Philgoddard's suggestion!

No "lease-purchase" is quite wrong as (without the hyphen) it means something totally different. Why not accept the correct term suggested by philgoddard?

yes of course you are quite right! Which term would you suggest though. The word leasing possibly? (I am very doubtful about it)

"Hire purchase" is for a car, a TV or a washing machine, not for a house! You don't "hire" a house, you "rent" it.
