Converting sdltm into tmx

Hello experts,

I understand that sdltm files are created by using Trados Studio. I use Trados Freelance 7.0 and when I try to import a sdltm file, I don't find any option for importing the same. Instead, txt and tmx files can be imported.

Is there any software or method to convert sdltm files into tmx so that these may be used in a lower version?

You can use free tools from:

http://www.vannellen.com/fortranslators.php

and

http://wordfast.net/zip/WfConverter.zip

or you can use xbench (trial):

http://www.xbench.net/index.php/download

... whoever gave you the sdltm to save it as a TMX using the option for Trados specifically.

I think the resources published here are already outdated and need some updates ASAP. None of those solutions work anymore.

To run the .jar executable, you need to download and install the Java SE Runtime Environment 8: https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html

Both tools can be used to convert SDLTM to TMX files.

If the conversion does not work for you, please provide specific information on the issue you are facing.

PS: ProZ Plus members and anyone with a CafeTran Espresso licence can also import SDLTM files and save the converted TMX with this CAT tool (with a project open, View > Show Memory menu if the Memory menu is hidden, then Memory > Import > Import SDLTM memory, and finally Memory > Save Memory as).

The jar file works without problem on Windows 10 - JRE 8

I confirm that the tool is also OK. Just be careful with the SQLite3.dll (32 or 64) which must also be downloaded and installed in the Windows folder.

This was originally posted in 2014. I now use Trados Studio, therefore I don't need such converters.
