Hi, I have a degree in interpreting and translating, and have spent many years working as a translator. I'm interested in getting back into interpreting, but realise I would probably need to re-train or do a refresher course (after 20 odd years). Does anyone have any tips?

Do a lot of research, I recommend some very helpful courses by Corinne Mckay, she’s dealing with interpreting as well, but don’t give up if you are decided to be an interpreter. It takes years to know the market and make yourself established. With so many groups on fb and online platforms it won’t be difficult, just make sure you do your maths, it’s something similar to calculating the calories. First you calculate and then you eat. No money no honey. Decide what type of interpreting you are doing, is it community or business or conference, private clients or agencies, telephone or video interpreting. Good luck and feel free to come back to this community whenever you need directions. There are lovely people here. Sometimes there are too many offers coming up and it’s difficult to decide which one takes you to your target.
