Italian term or phrase: ex elemento di maggioranza
this is about a pay package which includes seniority increases and "ex elemento di maggioranza". "Maggioranza" means an increase or raise, but I can't get the meaning of the entire sentence, which is used as a standard expression in labor contracts. HELP!

ex majority element

Explanation:
This is a mathematical element. On the first web site I make reference to, the "majority element" is defined as: "an element that occurs greater than n/2 times in X" (given an array X of n elements).
On the Italian website you read that "Dato un insieme di n>0 elementi ... l’elemento di maggioranza è l’elemento tra questi che si ripete per un numero maggiore di n/2 volte".
I think it's the same thing and that it's an element used to work out seniority increases. I hope it helps!

grandfather clause

Explanation:
"In American English, a Grandfather clause is an exception that allows an old rule to continue to apply to some existing situations, when a new rule will apply to all future situations. It is often used as a verb: to "grandfather" means to grant such an exemption. "
In other words, a pre-existing (previous) benefit/agreement is carryed over.
